A commitment to strong ethical standards and child protection
IDTANA recognizes the extreme importance of all members to strive effectively to ensure the safety and protection of all children. Members of IDTANA are all licensed, fully vetted professionals with the parent body, An Coimisiun Le Rince Gaelacha (CLRG) in Dublin, and IDTANA members are required to undergo child safety training with Safesport (members from the USA and Mexico) or the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (members from Canada).
The IDTANA Code of Ethics sets forth the expectations of the organization to maintain and improve ethical standards. Each region has its own elected Ethics representative, and most Ethics complaints and grievances are dealt with initially at the regional level. If for any reason, that is not possible due to conflict of interest or otherwise, it may be referred to the IDTANA Ethics Board. The IDTANA Ethics Board was formed in January 2010 and comprises of 7 regional Ethics Officers under the chairmanship of the IDTANA Vice President.
The IDTANA Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures are available here. In addition to IDTANA guidelines, all members follow CLRG Rules, Child Protection Policy, Social Media Policy.
It is the policy of the IDTANA, not to allow or engage in discrimination against, or harassment of, any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, pregnancy, physical, mental or other disability, medical condition, ancestry, marital status, age, sexual orientation, citizenship, or status as a veteran.
